Academic Success

Academic Success supports students to develop the skills that underpin learner success at Lincoln University.

Academic Success can help you support your students’ learning

Academic Success works with students from Diploma to PhD level on a wide range of academic skills, including basic learning skills and personal management, mathematics and statistics, research design, data analysis, information searching and management, and academic writing at all levels.

As well as working directly with students, we work collaboratively with teaching staff to help students achieve success. Working in-context in this way is very effective.

Here are some of the ways we can work with you and your students to support learning in your courses:

  • Resources for students (linked to your course material in Akoraka | Learn)
    • Generic resources on academic skills
    • Resources adapted specifically for your assessments
  • Interactive sessions tailored to your course
    • Team teach skills sessions in your class
    • Offer optional out-of-class workshops
  • Advice on strategies you can include in your teaching practice
    • Advice on designing teaching sessions and assessments to better integrate and scaffold skills development
    • Analyse skills weaknesses in submitted assessments and identify areas for skill development
    • Suggest types of feedback you can give students
  • Support for supervisors and research students
    • Work individually with thesis and dissertation writers to support them to ‘keep on track’
    • Advise on how you could approach students facing particular challenges
    • Facilitate research and writing retreats to help students stay connected, motivated and productive.
